Horizon Zero Dawn, a most stunning world to explore! (Review)

Environment
The game's set in a post-apocalypse earth where mech animals roam the land and metallic ruins and abandoned buildings litter the map, and the humans set back to a more primitive time, using bows and spears as their main weapons.

The map is a pretty wondrous place to explore, with a decent variety of biomes for you to walk/ride around in, and it is always a pleasant surprise to encounter newer species of mech animal. Not to mention how beautiful it always seems to look, no matter where you go, there's always gonna be a photo-worthy view! A beautiful and mysterious place that intrigues you to move forward the more you explore.

Gameplay
Honestly. the game is harder than I initially thought it would be. I didn't expect to hit a speed bump on the "normal" difficulty, but I did, I died several times to the more aggressive mechs like the Snapmaws and the Bellowbacks, I swear, the Bellowbacks have such deceptive looks, they look damn weak, but they managed to kill me so quickly!

Combat is fun, due to the variety of weapons that you get to choose from in the game. The mainstay weapon for me is definitely still the bow, although there are several other weapons to choose from, such as the slings that throws explosives, the tripcasters and ropecasters to trap the mechs and another one of my favorites for fighting humans, the Rattler, a weapon that acts like a shotgun.

Although combat is fun, I do feel like the difficulty doesn't suit me that well, even on the normal difficulty, I'd experienced tons of difficulty spikes, be it some sort of new and huge mech that can kill me in like 2 hits or those flying jerks Stormbird and Glinthawks.

I'd often tune the difficulty down to easy mode whenever I hit a speed-bump in this game, which isn't ideal, but at the time, I was trying to rush the combat for the story.

Story
The pretty unique take on the post-apocalypse world in this game caused me to be highly interested in the plot of the story in order to uncover the mysteries of the world-ending event. honestly throughout the whole of Aloy's adventure, I was pretty invested in the story, but was actually pretty damn disappointed when I found the answer to the mysteries, the ultimate reveal was not that satisfying to me, I mean, I really had expected more from this game, seeing how everyone before me gave it such raving reviews, but no, this is not a masterpiece, rather than a pretty polished albeit pretty mediocre game.

Summary/Conclusion

Pros
+Stunning graphics
+Interesting world and good variety of biomes
+Cool mech animals
+Good variety of weapons

Cons
-Unsatisfying story
-Immense difficulty spikes
-Uninspired skill tree

Graphics: 9/10
Gameplay: 7/10
Overall: 7.5/10

I believe this is the best a mediocre game can get, real close, but miss the mark of a great game by a little bit, Horizon Zero Dawn is the kind of game I'd get if I had no better games to play, but even then, it would be a game worth 10-20 hours of play time.
